BONE, Evelyn Cecil Bohun, MIEAust (1872‐1961)

After joining the Public Works Department as a temporary Draughtsman under E.E. Salter (q.v.) in 1897 and working on railway construction work in 1898, Bone was second in charge of the drawing office under A. F. Pearse (q.v.) in 1907, and Chief Draughtsman for metropolitan water and sewerage work in 1913.

After serving with the AIF, he became a Senior Design Engineer in the MWSS Department and was in charge of its drawing office in 1920. In 1921 he was appointed to the Public Works as Chief Draftsman. Bone transferred to the Main Roads Board in 1926 and was succeeded by A. L. Dent. He retired about 1932.

In the following picture, Bone is one of the senior officers of the PWD in 1930 (first person on the left in the back row, next to Russell Dumas).

In later life he moved to the Doodlakine Hotel where his son was the hotel keeper. E. C. B. Bone died at Northam in October 1961.
