Michael Chitty

Michael Chitty was a civil engineer, a Chartered Professional Engineer, Qualified Auditor, and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.

He born and educated in the United Kingdom and worked there between 1960 and 1974 before working in New Guinea and then in Australia.

His career in Australia included working for Pearson Bridge Pty Ltd as Contracts Manager for the Kings Cross road tunnel and Construction Manager on the Bondi Junction Plaza access tunnel.

He worked with Mott Hay Anderson-John Connell on Melbourne Underground Rail Loop. In 1976 he joined John Holland as Chief Estimator on dams and power stations. He was Deputy Project Manager on the Malabar, North Head and Bondi ocean outfall tunnels, Project Manager, concrete slip form of paving roads, and Construction Manager on the paving of the Sydney Opera House Forecourt and Lower Concourse Reconstruction.

Between 1991 and 1994 he worked with Sinclair Knight on the Hunter Valley Mine workshop and hardstand, and Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal expansion at Mackay, Queensland. After 1994 he was Senior Executive Engineer with Sinclair Knight Merz.
