Douglas Howard Helsham (1919 - )

Douglas Howard Helsham was a civil engineer. He had been born in Sydney in 1919. He had served in the AIF as a sapper with the Railway Unit Survey Branch in the Middle East but then transferred to the RAAF, as a fighter pilot in the islands north of Australia.

After demobilisation he was Assistant Engineer with the NSW Railways on the construction of Circular Quay station and the Eastern Suburbs Railway. Later he was Chief Engineer with Golden Fleece and General Manager of ARC Engineering NSW and a Consulting Engineer.

He was a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.
