Engineering Heritage National Landmark: Yallourn Power Station
After the First World War Victoria desperately needed to find a source of electricity supply fuelled by resources which it could rely upon. It was decided to embark on an ambitious program to use brown coal from the Latrobe Valley fields and build a power station on the coal field. Work started in 1921 and the first stage was completed in 1924. Over the following decades Yallourn Power station was expanded in five stages and continued to supply electricity until 1989.
The ceremony is part of Engineering Heritage Australia's national Heritage Recognition Program.
Organised by Engineering Australia, Victoria Division, in conjunction with PowerWorks.

Engineering Heritage National Landmark: The Budj Bim Aboriginal Hydraulic Works
The naturally engineered aquaculture of the Budj Bim, Lake Condah and Condah Swamp, landscape extends throughout the Mt Eccles lava flow and its wetlands. The Gunditjmara engineers developed and managed the hydraulics required to farm and harvest kooyang (short-finned eel) and other fish. Archaeological research is continuing, but present estimates suggest that the first structures date from 6,700 years ago and were in use until the 19th century.
Organised by Engineering Australia, Victoria Division, in conjunction with Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation and the Winda-Mara Aboriginal Corporation.
