William Baines

BAINES, William AMIEAust (1894-1979)

Born in North Perth and educated in Subiaco and at Perth Boy's High School, Baines joined the Public Works Department as a Draughtsman in 1911 and served in the AIF between 1915 and 1917. He became an Assistant Engineer in the PWD Drawing Office in 1926, and was elected an associate member of the Institution of Engineers Australia in 1929.

After being the Assistant Design Engineer to A.L. Dent (q.v.) in 1939, he succeeded Dent as Engineer in‐Charge of the Drawing Office in 1955, and retired in 1959.
