Thomas Brennan
BRENNAN, Thomas Francis, BA BE (1892–1944)
Tom Brennan was born in 1892 in the USA, the son of Patrick Brennan and Julia Brennan, nee O’Connor. He studied arts and engineering at the University of Dublin, graduating in 1916. His first work was on the construction of a concrete wharf and grain storage at Avonmouth Dock, Bristol. He worked across England and then back in Ireland on hydro electric schemes.
In 1923 he married Kathleen Teresa Duffy in Ireland.
After joining the Western Australian Public Works Department as an engineer in 1927, Brennan was working at Broome in 1930 and was the Resident Engineer for Geraldton Harbour Works in 1936. He also worked on irrigation schemes at Harvey. In 1937 he was the Assistant Engineer for the Northwest being appointed as Engineer for the Northwest in 1943.
He had a role in supporting the assessment of the Ord River Scheme and accompanied R J Dumas on a site visit in 1941.
He died unexpectedly on September 9, 1944 at Nedlands being survived by his wife and four children.
