DAVIES, Idris, MIEAust DipPTC (1900‐1986)

After erecting machinery at the South Kalgurli Gold Mine and working on several other mines in Kalgoorlie, Davies joined the Public Works Department as a Draughtsman in 1926, and gained his diploma from Perth Technical College in 1931. He then moved to the Metropolitan Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage Department.

Davies was elected an associate member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia in 1934. He was elected unopposed to the Cottesloe Municipal Council (South Ward) in 1945.

Davies was an Engineer on the Goldfields Water Supply under G Hammond in 1951. He became Engineer for Planning and Investigation in 1964, and retired in 1965. He passed away in 1986, and was buried in the Kalgoorlie – Boulder Cemetery.

His published papers include “A comprehensive water supply scheme for Western Australia” PIEA 21, 1949, p1.
